Prayer service for
quake victims Sunday
On Sunday, May 3, at 8 a.m.
and 10 a.m, St. Andrew’s
Episcopal Church in Florence
will hold a community prayer
service for the victims of the
earthquake that struck Nepal,
India and China.
The service, weather allow-
ing, will begin in the Labyrinth
Garden behind the church at
2136 19th St.
Community Chorus
take stage Monday
May 3, at 2 p.m., the
Community
Chorus
of
Florence will present “Hooray
for Hollywood” at the
Florence Event Center.
The FloTones are special
guests and the Siuslaw Child-
ren’s Choir will debut.
In addition, scholarships
will be presented to deserving
students.

ivate You” will be held as
part of the Open House pro-
gram.

nonprofit Florence Toastmas-
ters group is all about.

Dunes City Triathlon
run, ride, swim
Boardwalk Market
re-opens May 16
The annual Oregon Dunes
Triathlon and Duathlon will be
held May 9. Interested athletes

Market’s 2015 season kickoff
is Saturday, May 16. The mar-
ket is located adjacent to the
Port of Siuslaw Boardwalk at
Bay and Nopal Streets.
Local and regional vendors
sell produce, handmade crafts,
pottery, baskets, Oregon-spe-
cialty products, gemstones,
rocks and minerals, jewelry,
plants, clothing, art, photogra-
phy, blown glass, face painting
and more.
Hours are Saturdays, 10
a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays,
11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The market runs weekends
through Oct. 4.
Women’s retreat in
Mapleton May 9
The Mapleton Grange will
host a one-day retreat by and
for local women. “Spring Re-
newal for Women” will be held
Saturday, May 9, from 9 a.m.
to 4:30 p.m. It will focus on
health and wellness for women
ages 18 and older.

Straight Education Network, is

LGBT issues.

FEC Performance
Grant available
The Friends of the Florence
Events Center (FFEC) has
announced performance grant
applications will now be
accepted from nonprofit per-
formance groups that use the
Florence Events Center.
Fund requests up to $700
are to be used for an event
rental during the 2015-2016
season.
The deadline for applica-
tions are due in the FEC office
by June 1, 2015.

to artists
