Most areas will be stocked multiple times until early June. Be sure to check out the 2015 stock- ing schedule for the most up to date information. Fishing for the various warm water fish species can be productive during the spring months as lake temperatures start to rise and fish begin spawning. Anglers will start finding more fish up in the shal- lows over the next month. With 21 teams on hand, competi- tion was stiff as many of the state’s best athletes in all divisions competed on the same track. For the boys, senior Seth Campbell had the team’s best individual finish with fourth in the 1,500 meters at 4:09.9. In the 3,000-meter race, soph- omore Jack Pickell ran a PR time of 9:45.75 for 1DT. Senior Jonathan Griffes also PRd in 10:08.92 for 7DT, and freshman Isaac Griffees was 10DT with a PR time of 10:31.05. Senior Joseph Dotson scored in two events for Siuslaw, including fifth in the 110-meter hurdles (15.70) and sixth in the 300-meter hurdles (42.55). Freshman Trent Reavis placed sixth in the shot put with a mark of 43-10. In the girls division, junior Mikaela Siegel and sophomore Carissa Oliver each had Siuslaw’s top individual fin- ishes with a third-place medal each: Siegel in the 100-meter hurdles (16.53) and Oliver in the discus (109- 03). Meanwhile, Pleasant Hill opened with two runs in the first inning, then added three more in the second for a quick 5-0 lead. Errors in the third inning by Siuslaw allowed the Billies to tack on five more runs en route to a five-inning, 10-0 shutout. Friday, the Viks will host Marshfield for a doubleheader, beginning at 3 p.m. Steelhead The winter steelhead fishery is starting to slow down for the season but decent numbers of fish are still around the Whittaker Creek area. The river should fish well later in the grounds, day-use areas, trails, bike- ways and heritage sites. “This is a beautiful overview, but it’s just a place to start,” said Chris Havel, spokesperson for OPRD. “Most parks, and many campgrounds, are open all year.
