C-3) lfe Minis Just at this time, report! of Mi discovery of new mine! are coming thick u4 fast. Prominent ore those of Caeur d' Alane. From Eagle Creek, near La Grande, reported discoveries of fabulous import, come to os. Granite Greek and Mormon Basin are being prospected, and not a week passes but ledges of quartz, whose crftppinfrs are unmis takably rich, are discovered, and in s little time will be tested and ' found ricb. John Day's river and forks, are sending- farther re ports of new.drscovertes daily. Further off, South Bjise is being prospected andtreports roost encouraging; reach in. The Upper Co lumbia sends news of ricb discoveries lately made about Cnlville, and still higher up the river. The amount of prospecting this sea son is greater-thun any. season . heretofore, since our mining interests bave beeiudavel oped, and the eiteutof gtound prospected and number engaged, will re.uU in placing tbe ' resources and capabilities of the vast regions north and east of us before tbe world and we look for something permanent and enduring to transpire. (Jmaliua Aavtrtuer. Moa Nw .Mixm A report comes from tbe direction ot (Coritemii that new gold mines bave b en found on Elk river, a tributary of the Kootenai, which empties into the. Knote ml n short distance this side of the British line. We learn from Messrs. Waldron and , Drouillarit, th Kome'tai expressmen, that vposiderable confidence was felt in the reports at Fishorvtlle, and that the mines were be. . lieved to be, as reported 'there, very Yich The mines are on American soil which fact gives great satisfaction to the miners about Fisberville who intend to go the taxes and duties on goods taken into the British Cilum bta mines being so extremely high that un less they have very rich claims, they cannot pay the prices and make wages. ' Minen can better aff ird tn work mines on this side of .the line that yield one-half lest gold than an the other, and if the Elk river mines prove to be as gooil as reported, there will be a geo eral departure of the miners from Wild Horse : Oreek to "America." Hope so. Walla Walla Stateiman. ! Tbi .
