K. Babcock has been chartered by the Paciflo Coast company to load a cargo of coal at Baltimore for Portland, but local officials of , the . firm appear to doubt Its authenticity. They admit that the vessel may be under charter to bring a cargo from the Atlantlo coast to Seattle, but do not believe that ahe will be sent to Portland. It la explained that the Pennsylvania coal is In great demand at Nome for blackamltbing and other purposes. - In ths past six years, three cargoes of coal have been brought around from the Atlantic- coast for reshlpment from Seattle to the north.
