The Five Rennees are billed for the
Bijou this week, beginning with the
matinee tomorrow afternoon. That sim
ple announcement means that the Bijou

wife, two talented actors In the family's
specialty, character changes, and three
ounnlng little daughters, who are In
imitable In their own cutaway.
Two clever women cornettlsts are Ken
dall and Thompson. They come to the
Hi J. hi to make music, and they'll suc
ceed. All lovers of Instrumental music
should put the Bijou down on their list
for at least two visits this week. Prior
and Norrls can make fun most any old
time. As laugh raisers they are -exceedingly
hard to beat. Ben Jarrett'ls
a renowned black face comedian. His
talk is full of real humor, and hie keen
perception Is awakened by every new
town he visits. Joe Thompson has more
than made good with bis Illustrated
songs. The always-pleasing vitascope
has the most entertaining pictures of
the weak. Every afternoon and evening

Another Sensation.
The Baker management, offers another
sensational vaudeville bill this weak.
No house in the city has ever been as
popular as the Bales r, and the business
is Increasing every week. Three per
formances are given dally of one and
a half hours' each,' one in tha afternoon
and two in the evening. The bill open
ing Monday at 2:30 p. m. is aa follows:

The bill at the Lyric, beginning to
morrow, will prove the hit of the week
in vaudeville circles. The management
has got together a great aggregation
of vaudeville talent that will produce
a bin filled with fun and music from
the start to finish. The bill is headed
by the Wheeler and Wilson trio, comedy,
singing and dancing; Edle De Voe. acro
bat; Mtaa Welsae. with a dancing, banjo,
. ello and trick violin; Wynn and Hart,
acrobatic comedy sketch bun; Murray
K. Hill, monologlst; J. W. Wood, tha
sweet singer, In Illustrated songs; Col
lins Bros., acrobats, and the vltascope.
A great bill by all star people. In addi
tion to the bill tie In gold Is given

"Princess Chic" at the Marquam.
At the Marquam Grand theatre In the
very near future the tuneful and popu
lar opera, "The Princess Chic" will be
the attraction. The company which pre
sents this opera la one of the best, both
Individually and collectively which will
be seen In this city this season. The
cast Is headed by Miss Sophia Brand.

Mme. Melba's Tour.
Mme. Melba haa completed her prelim
inary tour with her concert company
under the direction of Manager Charles
A. Ellis, and Is to joint the company at
the Metropolitan opera house for four
weeks under a special engagement made
with Manager Conreld. Early In Janu
ary Mme. Melba resumes her tour, which
will continue until the middle of March,
and extends fsr Into the northwest,
down the Pacific coast, and through the
southern states. Melba will be heard in
this city January SO, 10. under the
direction of Calvin 8. Helllg.
"Black Patti Troubadour."
One of tha largest attractions playing
this city at popular prices will be the
Black Pattl troubadours, which comes to
the Empire theatre for a limited engage
ment of five nights, beginning Tuesday
evening. December 20. This organisa
tion numbers ovsr 60 people, and Rlsaer
rata Jones. Black Pattl, travels In her
private car. It Is reported from good
authority that this great singer has
cleared for her share of the profits over

"Shore Acres." the most popular of

Brigade." Immortalised by Tennyeon.
Thomas Yataa. s reapected resident of
Toledb. celebrated Its Both anniversary
thla year by taking a day off. which he
rarely does, despite hla It yeara.
Mr. Yataa waa a member of the Thir
teenth Light Dragoons, which rode In
the charge. Only nine other men of this
squadron beside himself survived the
slaughter, which reduced the ranke of
the famoua 600 to a third. He came out
with two aabre wounds In his left arm.
Later while doing picket duty he loat hla
right forefinger, and for that reason was
given hie dlarharae from tftie brigade
upon its recall to Oreat Britain when it
waa stationed In barracks fa Irelsnd.
He hsfl Intended to go fb Australia
with his family, but his discharge came
so late that be was left behind, and
after spending severs! vears In Scotland
lie emigrated to Canada 22 yeara ago.
