What Might Happen.
Speculation is ever rife its to
to what catr.stroli)he may over
take this globe of ours. Some
one has made a calculation of
how the earth may be completely
submerged that is to say, if on
lv the terrestrial forces could be
directed in the way required to
fteeompl.isliyuich an end. The
main height? of the land above sea
lovel is 2500 feet, and the mean
. depth of the ocean is 12,480 feet.
Only 2 per cent of the sea is in
cluded within a depth of 500
fathoms, while 77 per cent lies Lr
tween 500 and 8,000 fathoms. If,
now, .the land were filled into the
hollows of the sea, the latter
would roll over the earth's crust
to a uniform depth of two miles.
Another curious speculation
has been made concerning what
would happen were the earth's
. rotation to cease. The equatori
al diameter being 2C miles more
than the polar diameter, the
earth would present an equatori
al zone of solid ground miles
high alxive sea level, the water
all being drawn to the poles.
This land zone would then be like
our Arctic regions, and would 1 e
branded by a ring of -permanent
ice and snow.

What a woman doesn't know
about newspapers isn't worth
knowing. The other morning
Mrs. B. was talking to her hus
band. "I noticed by the Tribune that
Mr. Jones died on Sunday."
"It is a mistake, my dear," re
plied the husband, "he died on
I
Monday." j
"But the paper said Sunday."
"J know it, but it was an err
in the print."
" thought so too, at first, but
I got a half dozen copies of the
pape r, and it was the same in all
of them. They certainly couldn't
have made the mistake over and
over again."
The htisband tried to convince
her but it was no use, and he
gave it up. Washington Critic.

In Brief, And To The Point.
Dyspepsia is dreadful. Disord
ered liver is misery, Indigestion
is a foe to good nature.
The human digestive apparatus
is one of tho most complicated
and wonderful things in existence.
It is easily put out of order.
Greasy food, tough food, sloppy
food, bad cookery, mental worry,
late hours, irregular habits, and
many other things which ought
not to be, have made the American
poople a nation of dyspeptics.
But Green's August. Flower has
done a wonderful work in reforin
ng this sad business and making
the American people so healthy
that they can enjoy their meals
and be happy.
Remember: No happiness with
out health. But Green's August
Flower brings health and happi
ness to the dyspeptic. Ask your
druggist for a bottle. Seventy
live cents.
