SEATTLE, Wash., April 18. (Spe
claL) In the opening game of the sea
son Schneider downed Portland 2 to 1.
Today he did a little better, the count
being 2 to 0. It is an odd feature that
in both of these battles the contend'
ing clubs have equalized on hits. Tues
day it was eight and eight; today it
was six for each. Counting backward.
Portland has not scored on the locals
for 21 consecutive innings.
Although the score today -was close
and the game was well played all
around, generally - speaking. It lacked
the spice of other battles. . Schneider
and Battiste were the opposing pitch
ers. At the beginning of the seventh
Coleman had his hand badly split by
a foul and Murray replaced him.
Schneider was strong from start to
finish. ... - -

trial. Martini was sent to Walla Walla
