While toying -with a "small revolver
and playfully enacting the part of "a
hold-up man. Mr. Nellie Gale, pro
prietress of the International House,
320 Eighth Ptreet. -accidentally - shot
herself through the thigh and sus
tained a. painful although not neces
sarily serious wound. She was at
once removed to Providence Hospital,
where the leaden missile was soon ex
tracted and Just now hopes are held out
tirat her recovery is certain, although
there is always danger from blood
polponlng in such cases.
Mrs. Gnle and a few friends were
chatting in Mrs. Gale's room shortly
before noon, whljc Mrs. Gale was han
dling a 22-calibcr revolver. Presently
ne arose and pointing tl;e weapon di
rectly at Mr. Mills, shoulcd "Money
or your life." Mr. Mills, one of her
friends, was startled for a moment,
because the weapon was directed at
him. yet playfully replied. ."All right."

and held it behind her.
Suddenly the weapon, discharged and
the woman screamed Mrs. Gale
swooned and then remarked that she
htid been .shot. The -police were at once
notified of the apcldent and the in
jured woman was quickly removed to
the hospital.
MALHEUR PRECINCTS ARE DRY
Circuit Court Order Overrules Action
of County Commissioners.

cuit Judge or this district lias .handed
down his decision in the local-option case
n which the Stalo.of Oregon and others
were plaintiffs and the County Court of
Malheur County were the defendants. The
case in n result of the local-option vote
November R J 904. and the precinct under
consideration in this decision was Nyssa,
although the decision affects most of the
towns in the conntx-
The County Court made an order No
i ember 23. JP04.. intentionally and. arbi
trarily neglecting and refusing to make
an order prohibiting the sale of intoxi
cating liquors in Nyssa. The decision
reads that County Judge Richardson, who
favored the making of the order accord
ing to the vot "was overruled by the
Commissioners, and the Circuit Court has
ban n writ issued commanding tne ae
fendants to make the order declaring the
fale of liquor In Nyssa precinct to be void
oTid nbHoliitelv nroblbitlng the same. This
iwislnn will affect the towns of AVestfall,
Nyssa. Vale and all other precincts in the

Yellow Fever at Havana.
HAVANA. Dec. . No new cases of
yellow fever were reported today. .One
death occurred, and two. persons who had

be well. The number ot cases now under
