CANNERY HAS GOOD SEASON
New Plant at Chehalis Is Closing
"Cp First Year's Run.
CHEHALIS. Wash.. Dec 10. (Spe
cial.) The Lewis County Canning As
sociation which operated Its fruit and
vegetable cannery in Chehalis its first
season the past Summer, has practi
cally closed its work. A further sup
ply of sauer kraut will be packed a
little later. The management is laying
plans for materially increasing the
output of the plant next year.
Ths local cannery had a very good
season, considering- Its being a new
industry, securing a pack of several
carloada of fruit and vegetables. Next

preen blackberries will be greatly In
creased, as the arrangements for gath
ering ths crop will be perfected early
enough to secure a much larger volume
of the wild berries which grow so
abundantly within a few miles of Che
halis.

FACTS
The economic problem of
today is not so much a
problem of production as
it is a problem of distri
bution. In the process of
distribution the road is
the first link and that if
it is in bad condition it is
operating with the lowest
efficiency. This fact be
came apparent in Multno
ma County, and to over
come this defect it was
wisely decided to hard
surface almost all of tha
highways with that Peer
of Pavements.
