Tho present critical state of European attaint will
render these publications unusually interesting during the
forthcoming year. They will occupy a middle ground be
tween the hastily written news items, crude speculations,
and Hying rumors of the daily journal, and the ponderous
tome oi tne future iiistoriun, written alter the living inter
est and excitement of the great political events of the time
shall have passed away. It is to these Periodicals that
readers must look for the only really intelligible and relia
ble history of current events, and as such, in addition to
their well-established literury, scientific, and theological
character, we urge them upon the cousidcrution oi'the read

the proceedings of Congress, and of theotherdepui'tments
of t lip national Govemnient. It will contain ull the news
of the day, foreign and domestic, murkets, etc., as well
ns original correspondence from ull parts or the country.
The miscellaneous department will receive special attention
and, in ull respects, the effort will be made to estuhlishthe

rent, military operations, great utteutiou will be paid to
furnishing the readers of (he Xitionul Jirpndiiit with full,
mid especially with mviimt, accounts ot the progress of
Ihe war for the Union.
In politics, the paper will be Uoptiblican, sustaining tiro
Administration of Mr. Lincoln, but disclaiming, however,
any pretention to be the orgaujnf the President. There is
no Republican paper in the District of Columbia, orinthe
vicinity ot it, ami it is believed that recent events have
opened to such a paper au important sphere of useful effort.
The time has come, when the actual administration of the
Government upon Republican principles will explode the
misrepresentations which huve made those principles so
distasteful to the South. But it is not only here, and ill
this vicinity, that the projectors of the Xtitioiutt l.' pttMitit n
hope to miike it useful. To the whole country they oiler a
journal which will discuss national politics from a national
standpoint, anil which will never be swerveil iruin patriotic
duty by any overpowering pressure of local interest.

Dyspepsia, - - -
Liver Complaint,

Or any Derangement of the Digestive Organs.
rrMIEY regulate and prepare the stomach to receive and
JL digest food in a healthy munner, giving action to the
Liver, by removing the secreted bile, allowing the body its
natural strength. " It is very essential for persons of
every uge and condition in lite, to be careful and keep their
Diuestive Orcuns in good order. Br doing this, ther will
be proof aguinst any, or all, of the prevailing diseases, in
cident to the different climates, no matter wTiat the tem

every case, if taken according to directions.
There are thousands of smull arteries and arenres in the
human frume. Ipudinir to and dcnendinir noon, the frastric

its work. Consequently the body must be fed from un
prepared and unnatural suliva, sowing corruption through
out the whole system. But if the stomach is kept in order,
the created saliva goes to enrich the blood, giving a natural
freshness to the countenance, and strengthening the whole
trame.
We desire any and every person using the Bitters to
show them to and ask the opinion of their confidential
family physician, in regard tatho merits of theurticle.
