ILWACO, Wash. — The art
scene in Ilwaco is heating up
this summer. Ilwaco’s rendi-
tion of an art walk is called
Hot Ilwaco Nights and will be
held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday,
July 31. Galleries and partic-
ipating businesses at the Port
of Ilwaco will be open late and
offer art, refreshments and an
evening of fun.
Shoalwater Cove Gal-
lery will feature new original
works of art by Marie Powell
from her recent collection of
“Floral Studies.” Marie and
Randy Powell will be on hand
to meet and greet visitors.
The ArtPort Gallery will
offer collage demonstrations,
and visitors can listen to the
music of Sam Covina-Storey.
Visitors are encouraged to par-
ticipate and join in the fun of
creating a piece of art to take
home.
Eleven local area artists
are featured in the current
ArtPort exhibition through
Aug. 2. Featured artists are
David Campiche, John Clark,
Anna Lee Larimore, Martha
Lee, Sandra Lill, Sonja May,
Betsey Nelson, Marie Pow-
ell, Rebecca Read, Liz Todd
and Penny Treat. Mediums in-
clude oil, watercolor, pottery,

art jewelry and one-of-a kind
greeting cards.
Purly Shell will offer a
bunny to shawl demonstra-
tion with Oceanside Angoras,
VKRZLQJ KRZ ¿EHU LV VKRUQ
spun and woven or knitted into
wearable art.
Don Nisbett Art Gallery
will host a birthday party for
artist Don Nisbett. Locals,
friends and fans are invited to
come help celebrate by bring-
ing a photo of their Nisbett
art displayed in their home,
RI¿FHRURWKHUORFDWLRQ(DFK
person bringing a photo (for
the artist to keep) will receive
a free magnet. Guests are also
invited to share any stories
they have to go along with
their art or experiences with
the artist. The stories will be
video taped and collected in
preparation for a coffee ta-
ble book that is in the works
about Nisbett.
