Applications are now available for the 2015 Keizer Heritage
Foundation scholarships.
The foundation will award the $1,000 Pearl Langeland Me-
morial Scholarship, which honors the longtime Keizer teach-
er and Heritage board member. An additional scholarship of
$1,000 or two of $500 each will also be awarded.
The scholarships are available to current year high school
graduates who have lived in Keizer for the past five years or
more and who plan to attend a four-year or two-year college or
vocational school within one calendar year of award selection.
Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic perfor-
mance, school and community activities, monetary need, and an
accurate and complete application form.
The Keizer Heritage Foundation owns and operates the
Keizer Heritage Center which houses the Keizer Community
Library, Keizer Heritage Museum, Keizer Art Association and
the Enid Joy Mount Art Gallery. The foundation made com-
mitment to give back to the community that supported the
restoration of the original 1916 Keizer School building into the
current Keizer Heritage Center.
Applications may be obtained from your high school, re-
quested by e-mail at heritage@wvi.com or downloaded at
www.keizerheritage.org/scholarships.html. Applications must
be submitted to the Keizer Heritage office at 980 Chemawa
Road N.E. by 5 p.m. on April 3. They can also be mailed to
Keizer Heritage, P.O. 20845, Keizer, OR 97307. For more in-

human traffi cking April 7
The McNary High School
AWARE Club is hosting an
event called In Plain Sight,
Tuesday,April 7.
Local experts will weigh in
on the problem of human traf-
ficking and how individuals
can get involved to help pre-
vent it and assist in recovery
for victims. Speakers include
representatives from Center
for Hope and Safety, Mult-
nomah County Sheriff ’s Of-
fice, Marion County Crime
Victims Advocacy, Compas-
sion First and Survivor.
The AWARE Club focuses
on raising awareness concern-
ing issues of human traffick-
ing.
Financial donations and
discarded cell phones will be
accepted for the Center of
Hope and Safety.
The forum begins at 6 p.m.
in the McNary auditorium.
The event is rated PG-13,
but students in grades eight
through 12 are invited along
with their parents.
