From the complaint it is learned that the Murrays employ ed McLeod as a sheep herder in March of last year at the rate of $50 per month. It further states that the plaintiff worked for the defend ants from March 28, 1911 to January 28 of this year, except one month from November 25 to December 24, 1911 when he was ill. ' OIL WELL IS TAMPERED WITH Delays Securing of More Samples From Oil Well Near the Mal heur Lakes The oil well in the Red S. field of the P. L. S. Co., was tampered with and the purpose was thus temporarily defeated of ascertaining the extent of oil deposit on tup ef the water which would be shown by ten days of absolute quiet, says the Burns News. Last Monday, Mr. Holland and some friends went to the well to open it up after the sealing of ten days before as announced in the News, and they at once discovered that the cap had been already re moved and the well had been baled out. Nobody ventures any opinion as to the reason for this act, who did it or under what influence. It is claimed one rian's opinion on the subject is as good as another's. Of course, no real harm Vas been done. The well again in the hands of the drillers, who will proceed to extend it down wards and will watch closely what the operations bring forth. The News, whenever it gets anything reliable, will give it to the public. In this connection, a gentleman who has been intimate with every ract since the boring of this well started, assured the News this week that it had so far given the facts actually and truthfully and without exaggera tion, even to the nre on me cauies, which had occured three times. , This gentleman even stated that on one occasion, Mr. Swain, one of the drill owners, came near getting his face scorched by the blaze. VALE-ALBERSON STAGE UNE GETS NEW OWNER C. B. Smith of This City Euys out J. A. Newton Improvements to be Made The traveling public between Vale and Alberson will be Interested to learn of the change of the ownership of the Vale-Alberson stage line as it moans a number of improvements in the rolling stock as well as the main fnnancA of a regular achedule. The stage line was formerly owned by J A. Newton and the purchaser is C Smith of this city. Mr. Smith exDects to add new horses and hacks to the line as me travel demands and states that the line will run on achedule time. This line in its travel from Vale to Alber- son, a auiance ui ttu nines, v through Skull Springs, Crowley' Follyfarm, and at AILerson connects with stages to Andrews, mwelon, and many points in central and southern Harney county. The pulpit of the methodist church was occupied by Prof. J. T. Matth ews, of the Willamette University at Salem, who epoke on "Christian Education."
