    CHEI1AWA, OREGON, FRIDAY DECEMBER 6, 1901.
ON PARADE.
The above picture shows Cheraawa's excellent Band, under the
able leadership of Henry N. Stoudenmeyer, at the head of "two com
panies of Chemawa's Cadets, under Disciplinarian David E. Brewer.
The picture was taken during the last summer on the plat in front of
the Dining Hall and between the present Girls' and Boys' Quarters,
The Girls' quarters showing to the rear of the batallion. On this
plat our dress parades are held.
The band now has twenty-five members and is said by the best
Judges to be as good as any on the Pacific Coast. Mr. Stoudenmey
er and Chcmawa is justly proud of the progress that the band, as an
organization, has made the past year.
Our military drills are only for discipline, the pupils enter into
them with zeal and appear to enjoy them, when weather conditions
permit of having them. ,
