The meeting w as made up almost entirely of heavy property owners and prominent business men of the city. Speeches were made by a number of citizens show ing why we need a dock. It seemed to be the consensus of opinion, al most unanimously, that a dock should be constructed anil that the Amendment I. That the same be erected at the foot of St. Hel ena street. Amendment II. That the mat ter be put before the people of the city at the special election on Jan uary 7, 1914. Amendment III. That the ap proximate cost of same shall not exceed the sum of $5000. Amendment IV. Miss Glaytha Brown visited her parents in Portland over Thanksgiving. SCHOOL TOSH INCREASE RAINIER, SI. HELENS, CLATSKANIE ANO SCAPPOOSE LARGEST DISTRICTS The school census have been re turned to the County Superinten dent and show the largest district, in the number of pupils, to be as fellows: Rainier 605; St. Helens and Houlton, which after January will he one district. 577; Clatskanie 414, Scappoose 209. Each of there districts show quite an increase over last year, the increase in St. Helens alone being more than bu. All evidence of a substantial growth of population in all parts of the county. SMALL DOCK IS COMPLETED A Good Investment and a Great Convenience The dock for small boats has been completed and has already nroven to be of great vaiue to the fishermen and others using small boats. A walk leading down to it is built so that grocerymen and otheis can take a load of good3 down and the boat owners can wheel their loads up.
