The Outlaws needed to be back in town the week of April 2-8 for the start of league play, and were unable to compete in the Chandler Prep Tournament, which didn’t begin until Saturday, April 1, so instead scheduled games with other teams who were in the area. Sisters beat Santiam Christian (SC) in both games of a double-header on Tuesday, March 28, the first a 12-7 victory and the second a 7-3 win. In the first game, Sisters scored 12 runs on 13 hits and six errors and SC scored seven runs on six hits and three errors. Zach Morgan went three- for-four with three RBI, including a double and a triple. Ryan Cook went two- for-four, and Austin Morss went two-for-three. Jett Mingus threw for three innings and was the winning pitcher of record. He kept the ball in the strike zone and made the Eagles hit the ball. The second game was much closer. Alec Gannon, Morss, and Morgan all saw time on the mound. Morgan had good command of his fastball, threw six strike- outs, and was the winning pitcher. Gannon went two-for- three and Morgan hit a two- run dinger straight away center to highlight the fifth inning. Two days later, Sisters defeated Air Academy (AA) out of Colorado Springs in a final score of 12-3. The Outlaws were down 3-1 as teams entered the fifth inning, and Sisters responded with seven runs to take an 8-3 lead. A key moment came with the bases loaded. Ryan Funk took the plate and hit a three RBI double to right center field. JW Bertagna followed with an RBI single to score Funk. Sisters got to first base via several walks in the sixth, and tallied four more runs to seal the win. Morgan pitched the fourth and fifth innings and closed the door on AA. Zach had two strikeouts in the fourth and struck out the side, one-two- three, in the fifth, as he over- powered the Colorado team with his fastball. Stutzman came in and pitched the final inning. Horizon Christian can- celed their game against the Outlaws, so Sisters finished their time in Arizona with a 16-3 win over Santiam Christian. Sisters pummelled the ball for back-to-back home runs in the second inning. Morgan slammed a ball to right field and Funk followed with a shot to left field. Bertagna hit a double, and Mingus, Jake Larson, and Christopher You didnʼt count on this... ...but you can count on Fullhart Insurance! Competitive pricing & great service for over 20 years. Sisters had three batters with multiple hits: Morgan, who went two-for-three with three RBI; Funk was two- for-three with two RBI; and Mingus went two-for-three. Coach Steve Hodges said, “The trip started off a little rocky for us on defense in those first two games, but the last two we did much better. The pitchers got some good work in. They did a good job throwing strikes, which gave us a good opportunity to win. All in all, we got to practice in nice weather, got a lot accomplished, and felt it prepared us for league.” Outlaws boys lacrosse falls to Churchill Get personalized attention and expertise from your in-home design consultant.
