She was born in Hastings, Nebraska to Abraham and Alice (Hooten) Froschheuser. She began her career in nurs- ing at St. Luke’s in Denver, CO with a time in Pueblo, CO. With her move to the Portland, Oregon VA Hos- pital, she met a handsome Army Air Corp Captain, Cy “Bob” Roberts. They were married October 18, 1948 in Portland. They raised their family in Portland, Salem, and Lake Oswego, where they were active in the Lake Oswego Presbyterian Church since 1964. Darlene enjoyed arts and crafts and was an accom- plished seamstress. Bridge was her card game of choice and the two loved traveling internationally. Cy preceded her in death in 2000. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas & Deborah Roberts; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Steve Henkes and Laurie & Jerry Greco; a sister, Marian Froschheuser; five grandchildren, Laura Day, Luke Roberts, Michael Henkes, Kali Greco and Dan- iel Henkes; as well as five great-grandchildren, James, Mikayla, Liam, Nola and Ezra. Preceding her in death were a brother, James, and her parents. A private family commit- tal will be held at Willamette National Cemetery in Port- land. A memorial gather- ing will be held in the Lake Grove Presbyterian Church in Lake Oswego on Monday, July 13, at 11 a.m. Those who wish may make memo- rial contributions to various cancer societies.
